A Peculiar Grain of Wheat
Samuel McElroy is a hard working, God-fearing young man who would be quite content working alone with his team of mules and an axe in the woods of central New York constructing a section of the Erie Canal. Set with as much historical accuracy as possible the story follows Samuel as he teams up with another ambitious young man, Robert Bruce, to help build the Erie Canal and then develop a barge transport company.
Meet Author Bill MacKenzie
Bill grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, climbing trees and taking things apart to see how they worked. His parents taught him early and effectively that his purpose in life was to glorify and serve God. He had one of those rare and special families in which he was surrounded by love and happiness. He attended Purdue University where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his summers in college he worked on a guest ranch in Colorado, falling in love with its mountains and majesty.
He and his wife, Crystal, have lived in Oxford, Mississippi for the past 30 years where they minister to international students as associate staff with the Navigators. Bill worked for the University of Mississippi as the heating and air conditioning engineer for 25 years, retiring to now work part time as a consulting engineer. Bill and Crystal have two grown and married children and two grandchildren.
